Some of the very first uses of quarried stone in New England were long and wide cut pieces of granite used to place a house on. These pieces generally were placed on the top of a fieldstone base and gave the builder a flat surface to build from and showed a more refined look to the outside.
Best way to tell if a house in New England is truly old…look at the foundation. Stone Farm harvests and collects this beautiful old stones which make great steps and paving stones.
