Install worn top up or laid on side?

Antique cobblestones are harvested and reused for a variety or reasons and uses, but for most it comes down to two things. You like the worn "top" of the cobble that has smooth and rounded edges and a worn patina you can’t find with new cobbles. The other is the kaleidoscope of colors found in old cobbles that often came from multiple quarries. If color is your number one reason you can often install reclaimed cobbles on their side and get significantly more coverage area per stone or pallet saving significant money over an entire paving project.
